
Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Tyler Reed recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance and Pedagogy under the instruction of Will Strieder. He studied at University of Akron under the instruction of Scott Johnston, where he received his Masters of Music degree in Trumpet Performance and was an active member in their top ensembles. He also studied at Keene State College under the instruction of James Boccia, where he received the Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance. He was an active member of the Texas Tech Graduate Brass Quintet, Orchestra, as well as a member of the Texas Tech Trumpet Choir. In December 2016, he attended and graduated from the U.S. Navy School of Music located in Norfolk, Virginia.
He is an active soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician throughout the United States, United Kingdom, and other European Countries. Appearances have included those with such groups as the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Southwest New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Texas Tech Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Littleborough Brass Band in England, Long Lake Camp for the Arts Pit Orchestra, and the New England Intercollegiate Honors Band. He has recorded and been recognized for his compositions by the National Holocaust Remembrance Day Hildebrandt Award Committee at Keene State College. Tyler Reed composed and recorded music soundtracks for various online video games such as Dark Age Wars.
In addition to his studies at Texas Tech University, Tyler Reed has spent five summers at Long Lake Camp for the Arts as a seasonal brass instructor, performer, and director of various ensembles such as the Didgeridoo Ensemble. He also held the title of Assistant Music Director at Long Lake camp for the arts. With this achievement his duties expanded to conducting major ensembles, training new staff, arranging compositions for various ensembles, and ensuring the continuance of music at Long Lake Camp.
Dr. Tyler Reed is currently a trumpet instrumentalist in the U.S. Navy stationed with the U.S. Pacific Fleet Band.
